Kingly T — “Everybody Think They Know” Review
Popular Reggae artist Kingly T is back at it again with his newest Reggae single “Everybody Think They Know,” and “Everybody Think They Know (Remix)” featuring Tyra. This single is Kingly T’s first release under Atlas Star Records, an indie record label in Charleston, South Carolina. Despite just signing with the label, however, Kingly T is by far new to the music scene: he has been serving up hits around the world since 2007 with his first album “Unity,” and since then released five albums to date.
Although Kingly T is a Reggae artist, he has a knack for perfectly blending Reggae with more mainstream genres, such as Pop, and this gives him a unique edge compared to other artists in the genre. “Everybody Think They Know” is a great example of how Kingly T blurs the lines with genres; while the single is Reggae at heart, it has a beat that appeals to the majority of people.
I have to admit that the “Everybody Think They Know” is a little bit repetitive for my personal taste, with the chorus taking up the majority of the lyrics in the song; however, messages of hope and the power of faith are prevalent and inspirational throughout the single. Further, it’s impossible to ignore that there’s power in repetition — it’s hypnotic. Even with heavy repetition, “Everybody Think They Know” is a song you can’t help but love. I especially like the remix where there’s more than one voice on this track, with Tyra accompanying Kingly T in the lyrics.
Another powerful aspect of this single is the underlying messages the artists are singing about. Kingly T is known for his powerful lyrics and inspirational messages, and “Everybody Think They Know” is yet another example of how Kingly T embraces the personal struggles that we all experience in an uplifting and positive way. My favorite lines in the song would have to be: “don’t let it get you down / you want to stick around / you’re not alone.” These few lines alone elucidate the meaning of the song as a whole: have faith in spite of worry.
One final note: Kingly T is known for blending reggae with more mainstream pop-style music in order to appeal to the masses, and “Everybody Think They Know” does just that. Even someone who doesn’t consider themselves to be a fan of Reggae music can appreciate the lyrics and style of “Everybody Think They Know.” With its catchy beat and sing-along style lyrics, Kingly T’s single is easily a hit for more than just the Reggae genre.
“Everybody Think They Know” is not only the type of song you listen to in the car with your windows rolled down in the summer, it’s also a reminder to be kinder to yourself and not give up when times get tough. Everybody should give this single a listen and keep in mind the powerful message that’s in the forefront to the up-beat instrumental background. I look forward to see what’s next from Kingly T — it’s sure not to disappoint.
